About UsThe Onslow Junior Football Club (OJFC) is based at Nairnville Park in Wellington (New Zealand). Our catchment zone for players takes in the northern suburbs of Wellington including Wadestown, Chartwell, Ngaio and Khandallah. Our closest neighbour clubs are North Wellington and Karori. As our name indicates we are a junior club, catering for children (boys and girls) from ages 5 through to college age. We do not have any senior teams. Children turning age 7 through 17 play in the Saturday morning competition run by Capital Football. The football season in New Zealand runs from mid April through to end of August. Children aged 5 and 6 play in our introductory football program called Nursery Grade which is run on Sunday mornings at Raroa Normal Intermediate school in Johnsonville. Children of college age are encouraged to play for their school if there is a suitable team for them. In 2006 we had over 750 registered players, including some 160 in our Nursery grade. The Club is a community organisation and as such is run by elected volunteers. Our income is derived from membership fees plus any grants that we receive from funding agencies (community trusts). The Club is run very successfully on a voluntary basis by parents for their children. The Club Committee is responsible for policy, strategic goals and general administration of the club. Individual teams are run by their coach and manager. Without the active involvement of our parents the club would not exist. If you can help in anyway please indicate when you enrol. Our assets mainly consist of football equipment (balls, gear bags, nets, flags, uniforms etc), our floodlights for Nairnville Park, and the energy and efforts of our volunteers. |
