Enrolments for 2010

Enrolments for 2010 will once again use the ClubHub online system available through the website - http://www.onslow.org.nz. Enrolments open on the 27 January and close on the 17 February. Players enrol using our online system and subscriptions are also paid online via credit card (Visa or Mastercard) using a secure payment system. Please ensure you enrol during the specified enrolment period as there is no guarantee that late enrolments can be accommodated.

PLEASE NOTE that your player enrolment will not be accepted by the Club until paid in full.

Streamed team trials

Trial dates and details for grades 9 and up will be available soon on the website under Football -> Grade Trials. In the meantime the provisional trial dates are:

Sat 20/Sun 21 Feb – Trial Weekend # 1

Sat 27/Sun 28 Feb – Trial Weekend # 2

Sat 6/Sun 7 Mar – Trial Weekend # 3

Please mark your diaries and we will provide you with further information once we have confirmation of ground availability. During the enrolment process players will be provided with an option to register their interest in trialling for a streamed team. This information will be forwarded to the relevant Grade co-ordinator.

Important notice – Transition from Club to College football for 2010

In 2009, changes were made to ensure that Capital Football and College Sport were not running separate competitions for the same age groups.  There is now only one competition provider for each age group:

·         Grades 7-14: Capital Football runs club-based competitions

·         Grades 15 and above: College Sport runs competitions for colleges.

Therefore once they reach Grade 15, players can only play for their colleges in College Sport competitions.

PLEASE NOTE that College Sport does not offer competitions for Grades 13 and 14 – these age groups can only play in the club-based competitions run by Capital Football.  (Although some colleges enter teams in these competitions, we strongly recommend players continue to play for Onslow Junior Football Club through Grades 13 and 14 to gain maximum benefit from the club environment.)

We advise the situation for 2010 in greater detail below:

BOYS

  • Boys born in 1995 (or earlier) play for their colleges (i.e. all Grade 15 competitions are now run by College Sports).
  • Boys born in 1996 (or later) should continue to play for Onslow Junior Football Club.

GIRLS

  • Girls born in 1994 (or earlier) play for their colleges. (i.e. all competitions for this age group are now run by College Sports)
  • Girls born in 1995 are able to continue playing for Onslow Junior Football Club one year below their age-grade, if they wish, in the Grade 14 Saturday competition
  • Girls born in 1995 or later who attend College may play for both the Onslow Junior Football Club (Saturdays and/or Sundays) and their college (mid-week).
  • Girls born in 1996 (or later) should continue to play for Onslow Junior Football Club.
  • Onslow JFC girls may enrol for either the mixed-grade Saturday competitions or the Girls-Only-Sunday-League, or both.

Important dates for 2010

As noted previously online enrolments will open on January 27 and will close on February 17. Please ensure you enrol promptly to allow our grade co-ordinators plenty of time to organise teams.

The 2010 season will start on April 17 for all Grades (7-14) including JPL/Promo.

It is expected that the Club Nursery grade will start on Sunday 9 May with the coaches’ induction a week earlier, on Sunday 2 May.

A calendar of key dates will soon be available on the club website.

Two new Life members of the Club

The AGM in October confirmed two new life members of the club. Both have dedicated many years of hard work to Onslow football and deserve our thanks and recognition.

Brian Rusbridge was recognised for 19 years of dedicated service to the Club in a number of roles including gear coordinator, Grade coordinator, Secretary, Administrator, Club Captain and Deputy Club Captain. Thanks also to Alison for her support of Brian and the great work she herself performed for the Club over the years.

Dave Welch was recognised for his 11 years of service. He has been a grade coordinator of every grade, treasurer and proved invaluable in his role as communications coordinator and IT supremo.
